  1. You must bow out gracefully and that is accomplished by starting your own business on the side. When the income reaches the level you are comfortable with you make your move, you will know when the time is right. This is much easier to accomplish than most of our society thinks. We have to find the cure for the cancer that has swept our nation called a "job", the cure is to invest in yourself and get out of your comfort zone. You do not need a degree, alot of money, or come from a rich family, it comes from your heart. I am retired now due to the fact that I have never worked for anyone except myself since the age of 17. My time is now devoted to helping as many serious people I can do the same thing. I am always available to answer your questions and help in anyway I can.

  2. quit end of story

  3. Well, my wife was a manager at a pizza joint for many years and got fed up after a while too. With her manager experience she got a job at Krogers, a big chain grocery store.  She didn't get in at manager level, but some kind of high end Customer service thing (not a regular clerk at C.S. desk) (does money and alot of important duties including running the floor).  She makes about 16.00 an hour.  She has no college experience.  But just the manager skill can get you into manager or assist manager spots at just about anywhere.  Doesn't really matter that your experience is in food service industry. You can go into retail, gas stations, grocery stores and many others with your experience.

  4. with all this knowledge of all those years, why don't you run a place of your own? After a while you'll be able to have someone else run your business and be able to kick back and rack in the dough.

  5. find another job first and get out.

It is less difficult to get another job when you are employed than it is to get one when you are unemployed. Don't know why but there it is

  6. Sounds like you need a good vacation more than a new job.  I suggest two weeks to just "recharge" your batteries.

But if you feel a new job is the way to go remember that if you get another job like the one you have you'll have to deal with the same immature employees and an owner that could be worse than the one you have now.

If you look for a new job make sure that it is a step up.  You are giving up a lot with 18 years on the same job.  I'm sure that there is an amount of respect and trust that you have that you will have to re-earn.

My suggestion is that you take the vacation.  Tell your boss, "you can lose me for two weeks, or lose me forever..  your choice."  And tell them you want the vacation WITH pay.  You've earned it.
