  1. UNDERBOSS is right. he answered all u need to know.

  2. Car or truck must be at least 10 years old, drive straight to the border, pay the taxes and receive the papers they give, go to the city where you want to leave the vehicle and search for the "transito" government local offices.

Bring with you the original invoice of the car/truck and the papers you pay for at the border, they will give you the license and other stuff you might need to circulate freely all around the country.

  3. Have your car taken care of by a broker here in the USA - Must be before 1998 - Paperwork is not hard - I have friends who have taken Europen Sports Cars to the interior but none new -

  4. The question is, how long do you want to leave it in Mexico???  For a temporary import 6 months for FMT (tourist), or longer if you have a visa will cost anywhere from 200 to 400 dollars depending on the year of your car....

  5. Paco is a top contributer and doesnt know what he's talking about...it depends what car and year u wanna legalize! Im importing a 2000 beetle and a 2002 honda accord next week and their charging me 440 for the beetle and 540 dlls for the accord! U can only import 2003 to the border states of mexico,if u wanna go deep down south, for example,Guadalajara Mexico it can only be 1998 and below! 1 piece of advice, imported before u cross the border, seems like they charge more when ur already in mexico! About how to legalize a car, just go to the nearest border crossing and tell them u wanna import ur car,one more thing, last time i heard u couldnt import fancy cars like, lexus and mercedes, etc! And if u wanna import say a 2008-09 ur gonna pay high on importacion cause they want u to buy in Mexico thats y its so high! And dont import a stolen car cause they check serial numbers!

  6. From everything I've heard, the import fees are so high that it is more cost effective to simply buy the car in Mexico.
