Pre-Dawn

by Elaine Polin

In this pre-dawn hour

I caress the keys

of my computer—

only your faces

and your poems

fill the darkened sky.

Ocean, still hidden

by dark, clouded skies

has no words for me,

but your poetry

sings through the night

comforting my heart

restoring my soul.

This miracle machine

gives me the power

to travel at light speed

to the ends of the Earth

and beyond its atmospher

to our virtual Planet

and to the stars.

I am grateful

to the Creator

for the machine

and for all

of you.

  1. A beautiful and grateful poem.  The computer is a life-line.  It brings joy and closeness to what could be afar.  We are most fortunate for this machine and our fellow Poets of Mars.  Well said.

  2. Oh, I am sorry I did not read this earlier! I can just imagine you in the early hours (dès potron-minet...), next to the ocean, letting the words flow from your heart, your head in Mars. The poem shows how good a person you are.

  3. In view of the words of praise, the twist of complementary phrase, the extension of thoughts added beyond your verse,  from others above me,,,  it sounds rather  bland, and yes, even boring,,, to utter my simple, honest words of appreciation.

Yet, simple words are all I have to offer, I hope you will take this in the spirit intended,,,

    well done, well done indeed.

  4. the same about, and to you too Elaine.

wth you up so early for?

    lol..

  5. There is nothing I can say to this except, Amen.

  6. Thank you for touching us so lovingly in this manner.  The computer is a miracle at work.

  7. How touching, and sweet, we count our blessings and come up on top!

GM to you above the gloom.

  8. You do know you are special... don't you? I agree with you, if not for this interface I would be less... by being part of the sum of all of us I am more.

    ...beautifully said by you!

  9. Now, don't you want to just hug the thing?  Go ahead, no one is watching.  Wait, we caught you!  Computers have souls, we converse. You conversed quite well with this offfering.

  10. Many miles away your thoughts are picked up. Transmitted over same oceans and so very well received. So glad you are there for us...

  11. Bless you also.

    IBM - It's Bloomin' Marvellous.

    MS - My Saviour

ACER - All Computers Embrace 'riters

DOS - Draws Our Souls ???

BYTE - Bet You Tell Everyone

MODEM - Makes Our Days Even Merrier

(sorry I went from the sublime to the ridiculous in 10seconds flat then)
