  1. This will depend on the species- without that, you cannot get good info. Try http://www.tortoisetrust.org and/or http://www.tortoiseforum.org for more help.

  2. I own two herman tortoises, just under one year old. As they are babies they cannot live outside yet, ours are in a vivarium indoors with a UV basking lamp which keeps them warm. We put them outside under supervision when the weather is warm. How old are your tortioses? I would reccommend a UV lamp which you'l find in a reptile store. I wouldnt hybernate them this early if I were you.

  3. Get a box and fill it with straw. Make sure it is semi-warm. Put it outside in a dark spot (a shed should do) and leave it there for winter. It will hibernate, but shouldn't die as it is kept semi-warm etc.

    Hope this helped :).

  4. There's no way a tort would start hibernating even in this weather. It simply isn't cold enough. I think its also quite shocking you have tortoises as pets and know nothing about them. I really don't understand people who will get a pet without doing the slightest bit of research.

I suggest you check out this site as i has plenty of up to date info on tortoises of all species.

  5. You really shoudlnt have a Tortoise if you dont know much about them. You need am indoor enclosure with a UV light and a lamp for heat. I suggest you do some research and a good start is to look at this website http://www.tortoisetrust.org/backidx.htm... where you acn get all basic info for your Tortoise. How old are your Tortoises and what do you feed them?

  6. Throw it against a wall. I love watching them fly and there shells crack against things

  7. i bring my tortoises in when it is cold, but only if the temp drops below 15*c tortoises do sometimes like a short summer shower, a tortoise will start to hibernate when the temp drops below 10*c so don't worry too much, i usually go on my Mediterranean spur thigh as she usually digs in the hay in her hut when the temp drops that is when i get her in and put her in the indoor enclosure, the British weather is not great at the moment but the temps are still about 18*c -24*c  so there is not danger of your tortoise hibernating at the moment, to be honest if you have a tortoise you should have researched them here are some sites for you to look at    http://www.tortoisetrust.org/    http://russiantortoise.org/care_sheet.ht...    http://www.tlady.clara.net/id16.htm   http://www.slowcoach.org.uk/

the tortoise trust is really worth a look at as it has some great articles on tortoise keeping  best of luck with your tortoise honey.

  8. why do u have a pet u know so little about. get an enclosure like a tortoise table (no a fish tank wont do they get way to humid(this gets ask alot)) and get a basking lamp and some UV lighting until it can go outside again

  9. if their getting to cold get one of those tanks with a heater a the bottom then they can be a happy turtle.

  10. It depends on what type of tortoise you have. I have a red-footed tortoise and they don't hibernate, so I will have to keep him inside during the winter, with a heat lamp. If you don't know what type of tortoise you have then go onto Google or yahoo images and type in different names of tortoises like red-footed tortoise, Herman tortoise, Texas tortoise, Mexican tortoise, etc. If a bunch of the pictures look like yours, then research that type of turtle and find out whether they hibernate or not. if they do, it should tell you what to do. I really hope this helps!
