  1. You should start with a deed search.  This will give you names and dates.  Then try the library for the old newspapers.  Check with any old timers especially the ones that grew up in that area.  You get in good with them you could probably write a whole history book.

Unfortunately you will have to get up off your chair and actually talk to people to get this information.  Hopefully most of it will be free.

  2. Ask older neighbors what they know about the history of the house.

Then go to the public library and see if there are facts  concerning your town and its history.

Go to  your local court house and ask if there are any old reconds concering the house or the land.

You can find a local paranormal group to check your place out.

    They do it for free.

You can ask again here or read up on blessing your house and land.

Br open to whatever you find out about the place. Make sure your immagination isn't playing with you.

  3. The city planning/tax offices will have the complete history of your home. Free for the asking.

  4. Guess what? You will have to leave your comfortable setting and visit the local courthouse and library to find out the history of the home and land.

While you're out and about, get a geological layout as well. Find out what type of rocks or minerals your house sits on or around.

  5. Tax and deed records at the courthouse will help you to get the information about who owned the property and what it was used for prior to you owning it.

Take that information and go to your local library.  Most have a history of the county or parish that you live in in that might provide you with a few clues as well.  Ask the librarian for any information on land in the area that you live in.  They know where a lot of that stuff is located.

Older people in your community may remember who owned the land and how it was used as well.

Just keep on digging you and you will run into what you are looking for.

  6. Best place or places would be real estate agents in the area, neighbors and folk living say within two or three streets  from your house. If your house is old then talk to any elderly people who have been in the area as they may be able to recall any forgotten events. Your local library, newspaper office and council town planning office may be able to help.

I know a lot of so called educated people dismiss the idea but your house may be on top of a earth energy line or vortex and that can cause unearthly events, bad feelings and even sickness. Have a look at the follwing for further explanation:

If all else fails look for a water diviner also called  a water dowser or water witch. No they are not witches, it just a term that people call them for want of a better word. These people are sensitive to the earth energies and most times will pinpoint where the problem is and how to fix it. They are also sensitive to pyshic energy so if a ghost is there they will pick it up and also should be able to advise you how to get rid of it.

  7. Carol, if you want to email me with what city/region/country/etc. that you live in, as well as the information pieces you're looking for, I'll find out where you should look.

The answers for this can vary from city to city, and even suburbs sometimes have different records locations for different things.

Also, there are multiple sources of data: ownership records (typically handled in the US under taxation records), disaster histories (typically looked up in newspapers), mineral content (these records vary from place to place, and are useful in explaining some things), and a host of other things... what kind of information are you needing?

  8. Another thought - and this does not answer your question.. but another direction that you should look at is yourself. Did you sense this ghost when you moved in? Or has it been recently appearing? Meaning.. the ghost itself could be tied to you and not the house.. such as a loved one that may have passed recently. Just a thought.

  9. go to your local council website
