  1. She won't change her eating habits and only exercises a little. Well, there's the problem. Getting tired is a good thing, it means she's burning calories and increasing her metabolism. 'Exercise' without getting tired is pointless. So get her involved in sports, just for fun. Try to do something active, even if its only going for a walk, once a day.

As a parent you have some control over what she eats. Cook healthier dinners and pack her healthier lunches. Buy fruits and veggies as snacks, and avoid having cookies and sugary stuff in your pantry at all... it's only an extra  temptation.

  2. i had the same prob. when i was in 5th grade. as i got older my "baby weight" stated shedding off. tell her its normal and that it should shed. get her into a sport she may really love.  i personaly prefer gymnastics. its hard work but its a great way to loose wieght in a fun way

  3. If you want her to lose weight quickly, you really don't have her best interests in mind. The easiest way to lose weight is by not eating (obvious), but this clearly isn't the healthiest method.

It's well known that the best method of losing weight is by doing it slowly and by sustainable methods. For a girl in year 5, exercise doesn't have to be 'boring' and 'tiring', it should be incorporated into her leisure activities. How about taking her and her brothers and/or sisters (if she has them) to a park and kick around a football with them, or play frisbee? Walk to school if you live close by, or if you need something from the corner store, ask her to walk down or ride a bike. At age ~10, she really shouldn't be feeling lethargic.

Cooking more healthy foods will help, too, but since you didn't ask for that advise, I won't give it.

  4. Try the Lil Jack Workout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKCGe2Ezr...

  5. If the problem isn't a medical problem like thyroid, the only way is to get more exercise or eat less. Extreme diets or medication can cause permanent damage to a teen by disrupting natural development. She can build up endurance by starting out with walking to the nearest Y or park and back home. After a few days she should be able to add a lap around the park, then head home. Eventually she will be able to sustain 30 minutes or more of exercise each day. She is young and her body will more easily recover and return to her natural weight than an adult so she shouldn't need to do anything extreme. Listening to an IPOD should prevent boredom and make sure she wears sunscreen while outdoors.

  6. Forget crazy diets for losing weight.. Acai Berry is this new product I've been trying after seeing it on Oprah. I'm already seeing results!! You should give it a shot, here's a special link for a free 14-day trial.
