How do you love an autistic child?

If someone gave birth to an autistic child, doesn't that reflect badly on the parents - suggesting that there is something wrong with them? Their gene pool?

The same way you love any other child.  Actually, I take that back.  MORE than you love any other child.

It hasn't been proven that autism is a genetic condition, many people believe it is caused by environmental exposure to multiple toxins during infant/toddler development.

We have four children, and only one is autistic.  I don't think the gene pool is defective - but then again, I don't think HE is defective.  Autism is a difference, not a defect.  Anyone who says otherwise should maybe be worrying more about their own defects!

You have to love your autistic child the same way you'll do with any other, taking care of it the same way even do they seems to not understand you they'll know you love them, about the parents I specially think that if you have a Special child it's because God have something prepared for you and he knows you'll be able to handle with it

A child born with autism is a special and unique human being.  Some people are short, some people are tall, some people are smart, some people are slow learners, people have different colored skin and different hair color- this is all an expression of their genetics, just like having a child with autism!  The parents of children with autism love them just like all parents love their children, tall or short, blonde or brown haired.

And you also might be interested in a book called the Toxic Sandbox.  Take a simple issue like fish and wildlife, and the toxins in lakes and what we/you eat.  Theres more to all these disorders, 5 legged frogs for instance, than bad genes or even bad parenting.

No, autism can be caused by any number of things not having to do with the parents directly.  I don't believe it's genetic, but I'm not an expert or anything.  You love an autistic child the way you do any child with a disability--you just do.  A parent's love for their child is one of the strongest forces on this planet.  And there are many many degrees of autism, and an autistic child could appear "normal" (for lack of a better word!) to others with the proper developmental therapies.
