Ok im doing a science project on how acid rain effects plants. But to do this i need to make acid rain. I have been searching the internet for a recipe but cant find anything. So if you know how to make it please let me know. If you also have a link that would be great. But if not just the recipe would be great!

  1. you can make your own acid, it's vinegar.

vinegar is an acid and it can effect plants, i had a project on acid rain and i worked on algae and i used my vinegar as acid, it did have effects.

so just use simple vinegar( white vinegar), it will make effect, if it does not, then u have done something wrong.

just use vinegar( distilled or white) from a supermarket

    Wish you sucess

  2. First if you get vinegar and put it in a bottle for 3 days it will turn into carbon dioxide.(d2) After the three days are over, pour water in it let it stay and dissolve in with the carbon d2. Then you get acid rain.

If you cannot do that just get algea(or moss) and fertilizer and mix it with WARM water. Let it sit for a couple of hours.

this better be worth 'best answer' lol

  3. diluted vinegar is one approximation. dilute it at least 1000 to 1.

But acid rain is actually very dilute sulfuric acid. If you want to simulate this, get some sulfuric acid from a drug store, if you can, or a chemical supply house. Dilute it 100000 to 1 at least. That's about one small drop to a large bucket full. Be very careful, it can burn you badly.

Acid rain is, at worse, 2 PPM sulfuric acid.

    Precautions:

One should always add the acid to the water rather than the water to the acid.  Gloves and protective goggles should be worn.

Note that acid rain is a long term effect, it takes months or years of acid rain to have any effect on plants. You can't simulate this in a lab. If, as others suggest, you use concentrated acids, like full strength vinegar, you are not simulating acid rain at all, but what happens if you pour acid directly on a plant. In this case, don't even think of using sulfuric acid, it's too dangerous.
