Question:

How do you make Iced Coffee (at home)?

I've tried it but the coffee melts the ice and waters it down. How do they make it when you buy one at a coffehouse, it is ice cold, not watered down, has plenty of ice, yet still has it's full flavor. Please help me any of you iced coffee lovers out there

  1. For some reason, when I make iced coffee with brewed coffee that's been chilled; it tastes like the coffee grounds.

    That's why I came up with my new iced coffee concoction.

    I use the french vanilla International Coffee and Folgers instant coffee.

    Put 6 tablespoons of the International coffee and 1.5 tablespoons of the Folgers in a cocktail shaker (the thing you make martini's in).  Fill er up with 75% ffiltered water, 25% whole milk.

    Shake for 3-4 minutes

    Pour over Ice and enjoy.


  2. This is how I make Iced Coffee at home: I brew or press the pot of coffee (usually with a little bit of expresso mixed in because I like strong coffee), then pour it into a pitcher. Then, while the coffee is still warm, I sweeten it lightly usually with evaporated kane juice or stevia. I think it is important to sweeten the coffee while it is still warm, because it dissolves evenly. Then, I chill it in the fridge a while. When I am ready to drink it, I fill a glass with ice cubes, pour as much coffee as I want, and add milk or cream, or not depending on my mood. You can always sweeten it more at this time if you need to.This is the best way I have found to retain the flavor and not have watered down Iced Coffee =)

  3. I have never gotten to be as good as the coffee house iced coffees, but you can make strong coffee, let it cool. Then to your cup add flavors like carmel or chocolate and add your coffee...and don't forget the whipped cream!

  4. Brew the coffee and put it in the fridge first. Then when it's cool, make your recipe.

  6. Brew your coffee as usual and let it cool.  Put coffee in the fridge until ice cold, then pour over ice.  (versus pouring hot coffee over ice).

  7. Just like the first answer, brew coffee and let pot cool down enough so you can but in fridge (preferably over night).

    In the Am just pour your coffee in a cup, add sugar and cream if you like and add ice.

  8. Well just brew the coffee about an hour and a half before you are going to drink it.  Then place in freezer and keep checking it until it is cool enough.

    Note...If u put it in your fridge it will possibly bring it into the temperature danger zone.  So use smaller containers and put in the freezer not fridge.

    If you want to add sugar or flavorings add while hot so it melts properly.

  9. I think the best way is too make the coffee really, really strong (use twice as much coffee as you normally do).    Then you can pour it over LOTS of ice cubes (not crushed ice).  When the ice melts, it will dilute the coffee to normal strength.

    You can also do what others suggest, make the coffee and let it cool.   I find that it doesn't have that fresh brewed taste as doing by brewing extra strong, but it will work.    Also, you can't decide on the spot to have ice coffee (which is usually how I want it), you have to plan in advance.

  10. I would get about half a cup of ice and then almost fill the cup with either cold water or cold milk (i generally use milk). Then in a little cup, brew some very strong coffee, so use a very small amount of water and pour it in your cup.

    or you could brew a whole lot of VERY strong coffee in one go and then freeze it into an ice-cube tray, so all you need to do is let a couple melt into a cup of cold milk...
