  1. everybody i know buys them at the market.. althought i'm sure somebody makes them from scratch... they are easy to buy, even in the states.

  2. Like everyone else had already said, how Vietnamese rice noodles for pho are made consists of directions to the nearest Asian market to buy it already made. I did see rice noodles being hand made one time.

In ancient times, the noodles were created by funneling watered down pasty rice with salt and other ingredients through woven baskets. The shape of the noodles were created by the holes weaved into the basket. The noodles were dried completely or sometimes remained a little wet and dumped into a bowl with other ingredients to make pho.

If you're planning to make a business out of this, making rice noodles by hand will probably put you out of business. Now days, machines can make rice noodles much faster and better than by hand. You're also about 100 years behind other companies that are already making rice noodles. Nevertheless, I think it would be in interesting project.

Good luck with your business adventure!

  4. I don't have the recipe but wonder why you would want to make the noodles instead of buying the packaged ones.  No Vietnamese ever makes those noodles at home as opposed to Italians, some of whom do make home-made spaghetti.

  5. Lots of rice.
