  1. On a standard BT landline:

Dial the first person you want to call as normal and establish the connection.

Press the "R" or "Recall" button on your phone.  The first call will be placed on hold, the person hearing a repeating message "Please hold the line."   You will get another dial tone.

Dial the second person you want to call and establish contact.

Press "Recall" again, and get another dial tone.  Press "3" and you will all be connected together in a 3-way conversation.

Alternatively, you may press "recall" and then "2" to switch back and forth between the two calls; the person to whom you are not talking at any time will hear the "Please hold the line" message.

If after establishing 3-way you wish to drop one or other party, press "Recall" again for a new dial tone, then press "5" to release the first call or "7" to release to second call.

Note:  If your phone has a switch setting for "recall" on it somewhere, it must be set to "timed" or "TB," not "earth."

If you do not have a recall button, you can achieve the same result by flashing the hookswitch once very quickly, i.e. just press the switch briefly (as if you were pressing any other button); too long and you will disconnect the call.
