How do you make a beanie with a knitting k**b?

my friend says she has done it before but she for got how to do it.

Well, with the basic knitting knobby with 4 to 6 pins, you need to make several yards of tube and then sew it into a hat shape.  However there are circular knitting looms that allow you to make the body of a hat up to the shaping at the top.  Once you begin the shaping it seems to me that you'd have to transfer things to a needle.
