How do you make a black and white picture with some color?

i've seen it before. and i reallyyyy like it. is there a program or web site i could go on for free to be able to do that to me pictures??

One of the cameras I have (Canon PowerShot S3) has this feature built into it. I just show the camera what color I want, and everything else is turned black and white. Here are some examples of photos I have taken with it. All are completely unedited...these photos are straight from the camera. Either that or you can get some editing software and get totally frustrated (like I did before I bought the PowerShot) trying to creat the image you want.

One basic technique is to start with a color picture and then create a selection around the object to stay colored. Then invert the selection and remove the color from this inverse selection.
