  1. A really good way to calm a dog is to put the dog on its back and tell him to stay. Hold him, he will try to get away but don't let him, use your mean voice to intimidate him, tell him to stay. Try not to play around with him until he calms down. Also boss him around, show him who is the boss. The dog will start to respect you and know that if he does something wrong he will get in trouble. Try to use a different voice when you are mad at him, and your normal voice when you are playing with him. Please do not abuse the dog. Just teach him, dogs do understand. They are like little kids. It will take time but at the end you will be loving the dog and the dog will love you too.

  2. I watched the show on Animal Planet called It's Me Or The Dog and one good way to get a dog to not jump up on you is to turn your back to the dog with your arms crossed.  Do not make any eye contact with the dog.  Stand there for a while and the dog will lose interest and walk away.  I have seen this work many times.

  3. Firstly, don't talk with a very high voice because this excites the dog. Also, if he is being hyper active then just ignore him 'till he calms down, then you can stroke him softly.

  4. The dog is going to breath hard every time he gets excited.  The fast breathing just goes along with what you like which is jumping, playing, and getting crazy- it's completely normal.

What is not normal is the really bad breath.  Bad breath in a dog is a sign of bad teeth or other health problems.  The dog really needs to be seen by a vet and the vet will figure out what is causing the bad breath and what to do about it.
