How do you make a fake microphone stand?

I am doing a project, and I need a mic w/ mic stand. I would prefer to make it, esp since I may want to use it again for another project. I figured out how to make a mic already, but all I need is a sturdy stand.

 It would be good to go to any home store, for example, ikea or homebase where you can buy curtain poles
