  1. Do not attempt!!!

Anyone who has been through even the confined water portion of scuba training will tell you to stop. There are so many considerations that you are not thinking of. Poisoning, air compression, lung compression, lung overexpantion, weight, air flow at depth, and a hundred more things that could go wrong.

If you want to stay under water for 3 min without scuba training then work on holding your breath.

  2. Don't.

Yes, it's possible to actually create a cylinder that would hold some air.  However, the next challenge would be to fill it with air that would be safe to breath.  And the challenge after that would be to regulate the air flow.

People have died using Do-It-Yourself underwater air sources.

Thumbs up to ScubaBob - get signed up with a "Discover SCUBA" class at a local dive shop (www.padi.com).  They'll have all the proper equipment and you'll get to experience *real* SCUBA diving in a safe environment.  Besides, you'll get to stay down a whole lot longer than 3 minutes.

  3. NEVER attempt to DO ANYTHING THAT STUPID! without proper training!

  4. Very dangerous without proper training!

  6. You won't. It's that simple. Scuba tanks are full of compressed air. The tank has to be strong enough to hold that pressure. For example, typically, they're filled to 3,000 pounds per square inch. That's about half the weight of an average car, pushing out on every square inch of the tank. Even building something that will hold 200 pounds per square inch would be difficult for you.

You just can't make a tank, not pressurize it and still expect to breathe from it, even on the surface.  Try that with any water bottle or even a glass bottle. How do you plan on pressurizing that "tank" you just built and more importantly, how do you know it won't blow on you, potentially hurting or killing you?

Even properly made tanks built by tank manufacturers need to go through testing before they are sold and they are also inspected at regular intervals to make sure they're still safe to use.

Why not ask your parents to take you to a local dive shop. If you're old enough, there are several programs for young divers and one is even free. That one is called discover scuba. You get to try diving out.
