How do you make a homemade lightbulb? (look at restrictions)?

ok

well i have to make a lightbulb for a science project and you cant: use more than a 6v battery, use batteries smaller than C or D,

use steel wool, has to last 1 minute, and you cant use anything from a readymade kit or bought object.

and you have to have a homemade switch....

HELP!!!

    It's pretty simple, but the trick is fabricating the device and craftsmanship, especially if you want it to work consistently.

    There are some other similar videos.  Some are much simpler devices...like using a standard pencil lead across a car battery.  It isn't elegant, but it would work.


  2. Use the fibres of steel wool for the filament. If all the current flows through a single strand, it will heat up and glow. Look for different thicknesses to vary the length of time before they burn out. If is too thick, it will not heat up, if it is too thin, it will burn up too quickly. You can make two pieces of wire by twining the steel wool between your hands. Attach these to both terminals of the battery. You can then use a single fibre to bridge between the two wires.
