  1. There are kits, some assembled units and such that you can use, but they are all very limited range.  After the transmitter you'll need microphones, music sources, like CD players or an ipod, and other things.  Depends on how fancy you want to get.  If you expect more than a 1/4 to 1/2 mile range, you will need a license and much more equipment   That's big bucks, like $100,000 to do it right, i.e. engineering studies, frequency serches, FCC approvals, and such.  Expect that process to take sevral years.  Internet radio might be what you will be happer doing.

  2. i think thats illegal not sure..

  3. There used to be a radio kit where you could broadcast radio from wherever you wanted. I don't know that they do anymore. Even if you did find one, they don't transmit far, only a half-mile or so. There are FM Modulators made for computers that transmit, but only a few hundred feet. I'd stick to the Internet, or get a CB.

  4. You can, indeed, purchase low power transmitters for home use; if they are below a certain wattage then you don't have to license your broadcasts with the FCC.  The bad news is, these transmitters only broadcast a few hundred feet; even a car passing right in front of your place wouldn't pick it up.  Any larger wattage transmitter would require a government license.  There are "outlaw" stations that do broadcast without a license, but they risk fines and seizure of equipment if they are caught.

Previous answerer is correct- you'd be better off doing an internet broadcast.  You'd reach more people and still stay legal.
