How do you make a model raft?

In english we have to build a model raft because it goes along with the book we are reading. The raft has to be 8 by 10 inches. I was wondering what materials are best to use and how to make it! Thanks!!!!

Go out in the woods and find sticks that are the right size, like small branches.  Cut them to the length you need, then tie them together with string, until you get the right size.  Loop the string around each "log", then wrap it around again and on to the next log, until it is tightly held together flat.

  When i was a wee tot, my father and i went out in the woods and gathered branches and sticks.  He made me a toy log cabin with those sticks, and some boards, and he put a chimney on top and a door that opened, and a small window in one wall.

  Oh, i thought that little log cabin was the greatest thing!  I kept it for many years, but, alas, it finally fell apart not long ago!  I'm 83 YOA, so you can figure how long ago he made it!
