  1. i would not cut it in shapes i would sew it in like in a pattern.

  2. Here is an example using 8 inch squares and a twin size quilt,  but yours can be any size.

    1. Cut shapes with a ruler and rotary cutter on a mat. Triangles, rectangles, parallelograms ... doesn't matter, as long as the sides are straight. Sew a few together side to side, top to bottom until you get a piece that's a little bigger than 8 inches by 8 inches. With a ruler and rotary cutter on a mat, trim the piece into a square, 8 inches by 8 inches.  Set the square aside and make more squares until you are out of shapes.

Embroider on your squares if you want.

Start joining your squares left to right until you have a strip that's still 8 inches tall, but 75 inches long.

Put that strip aside and do more 75-inch strips until you run out of squares.

Now sew your strips to each other, top to bottom until it reaches 98 inches long and still 75 inches across. Embroider along the seams.

That's your quilt top! Embroider it even more if you want, add a batting & backing, tie it and put on a nice binding.
