  1. I put in the roast.  Put a bunch of sliced onions around it and pour in a cup of beef broth.  I just use beef in a mug or oxo.  And I usually put it on about 10:30 or 11 at night and it is done beautifully when I get up at 8 or so.  The cheaper the roast the better - I use chuck if I can find it.  Then I take out the roast, pour whatever liquid is there in a pot and thicken it for gravy.  It is so tender it is impossible to slice in slices, but chilling it helps if you really have to have it sliced.  Love my pot roast.


  2. I put the roast in the crock pot with onion, garlic, beef broth, salt and pepper... cook it on the lowest setting for pretty much 24 hours.. of course this depends on how large the roast is.

    and for a twist. omit the beef broth, then when the roast is done cooking drain out juices then shred the roast and add your fav. BBQ sauce. then you will have some great BBQ sandwiches.

Put your roast in the crock pot and then add half a jar of pepperochoni(peppers that you sometimes get in a pizza box when you order pizza from papa johns),use the juice too,don't drain off.Then add a can of cream of mushroom soup on top and cook accordingly.It's called italian pot roast and it's the best,easiest and tastiest I've ever had,my family loves it.

  4. I take 3 pieces of foil (golf ball size) roll them up and place them on bottom of crock pot.

    Put the roast on top of that because the juices will flow to the bottom and rise back up steam that will saturate it and make it mouth watering.

    Add 1/2 cup of water

    3 tsp.basil

    fresh mushrooms (as many as you want)

    1 whole onion diced

    1 package bag in season (mix it up and pour over roast)

    cook 8 - 10 hours low heat

    It is sooooooo good.

    Savory Roast Beef

    3-4 lb roast

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    3 tb steak sauce (optional)

    1 can water

    1 package dried Lipton onion soup mix

    Place roast in crock pot. Add steak sauce to top and spread to coat evenly. Add cream of mushroom soup on top spreading to coat. Sprinkle onion soup on top and add water. Cook on low for about 8-10 hours or until meat separates easily. Serves 4.

    For French Beef dip sandwiches: French Rolls, roast beef, and Au Jus Mix with a little of the drippings from the roast added for dipping. Horseradish Sauce if you like it.


  8. i usually buy whatever roast is on sale that week(rump,eye of the round,etc.) and then i put my potatoes,carrots and one can of beef broth in and then i set the meat on top,i cook it on low and leave it on all day (between 8-10 hours)it is so tender you don't even need a knife to cut it ...good luck!!

    What I would add is for you to cook your veggies much as you would cook them on the stove. In other words, your potatos take 15-20 minutes to cook. Your celery, carrots, onions, etc. take 10 minutes to cook.

    So add a onion cut in half and a little sugar to saturate the flavors into the meat. But dont add your ve\ggies until your getting to the point of setting the table. Otherwise you will have mush with your roast. And nobody like mush right?

  10. Use a chuck roast, a bit of good liquid (beef stock or wine) and let it go all day! MMMMMM......
