Ok so this room is upstairs facing east (ish) It use to be a room that had a door that went outside to a outside porch thing. But before we bought it the person in closed that area. So now it goes out to a "storage" room. I have central air but that room and the other room that's like this is sooo hot.. is there something to help keep it cool without having the rest of the house be 60 degrees? Would plasticing or maybe putting a thick blanket over the door and window that gos to the "storage" room help?

  1. If posible you can take out small slab area for void or other choice you can put AC cassete under the slab.

  2. I assume that the room has a register for the AC.  Open it wide open and close enough registers downstairs to force the air up to the bedroom.  The cool air will then move down though the house to cool the downstairs.  In the winter you need to reverse this, force the warm air to go downstairs and it will rise to warm the upper floors.

  3. Just by walking into it... :)

  4. if this east facing room or storage room has an operable window, open it for an hour or so, place a fan in front of it facing OUT. This will have a vacuuming effect and vent out the hot air from the room faster, rather than just relying on the air conditioning alone to do this everyday.

  5. Sounds like you need to insulate the roof area and walls. Also keep the blinds closed so the sun don't get in their.
