How do you make a successful blog?

Question

Iv recently started working on a blog and I was wondering what are the best ways to advertise or increase visitors?

The blog is called `Single Fatherhood', which is for fathers who live alone or are in similar situations.

Im new to blogging so try and keep the answers simple :P
