I've always wanted to make a Television or some other sort of electronic, but I've always wondered where the parts inside them come from. I opened up my old digital camera today, and saw how well shaped the board was to the camera. Do companies get their electronics made special by other companies (if so, which ones?) or do they build them with parts from somewhere? (if so, where?)

  1. they are made specifically for that model of tv /camera

by clever men in white coats !!!

  2. The circuit boards that you see in consumer electronics are mass produced by machine (either at a plant owned by the company selling the product or by a separate company, that depends on the manufacturer). Parts are inserted by a robot and soldier is applied by soldier bath. They also use a method of soldiering both sides of the board before the parts are inserted. Then they heat it again and insert parts.

There used to be a company called Heath Kit that would send you everything you need to build your own tv, oscilloscope, etc. (they had lots of different kits). Unfortuneatly, they're no longer in business. I don't know of any available kits. If you want to make your own pc boards and get your own parts you can try a local electronics parts store. You'll need a schematic to begin and I have no idea where you'd get one but the electronics store should be able to point you in the right direction
