well thats a broad question!!!!!???? it depends on what type of game you want to design. And no, you can not easily at all make a game or GameBoy, DS, PS1, PS2, PS3, Wii, stuff like that. that requires for you to be a business. but making a computer game on your computer is easy!  use game maker. it works for almost every type of game including, platform, rpg, stuff like that. you can download it from yoyogames.com click on make then game maker and download it. i think you have to join to download it though.

if you wanna make a REALLY good game, (like a 3-D game) you gotta code it. look up C++ or C+ or learn C++ or visual basic, stuff like that.

the easiest way is to purchase a game engine or use a free one, and then add to it to do things you want.  You'd need a map builder for that specific engine also, and have a 3D modeling program to design the characters and other in-world items.  The harder way is to write the engine yourself using the next 3-5 years of your life.

There are other programs out there which enable you to do this, but XNA Game Studio enables you to create XBOX 360 games as well as PC Games.

A h**l of alot of C++ knowledge and programming. Probably some financial support. OR. you can download a game engine and make a very simple game as most of the half decent game engines cost money.
