How do you make a website an Official website?

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows how to make your website and offical website for a certain product etc? for example manutd.com is the offical website but than there are unofficial websites also.

This can be obtained by buying SSL Certificates for your website.

http://www.entrust.net/ is an example of an SSL vendor.

You can make the claim as the official site if you created the subject of the data contained within the site. Say you build a car, then you can have the Official site for it, if you see a car and make a site about it you have to legally say your not the official site.

this is a guess but i'd say the owner of the particular thing does some sort of copyright on the website...
