i need instructions on how to make an automated mirror site to my blog. the server is too small to serve our needs, and upgrading to a bigger server is too expensive. so the mirror site needs to be automatically updated whenever i update my blog. that way whenever the site goes down, readers can be redirected to the mirror site, and i have the advantage of having a backup site without the hassle of running 2 sites.

  1. uh wait?

the first server is too small to handle a blog?

even a 386 server running linux could easily handle 100 of those....

and you can't afford another one, but you have one to copy the original site too?

    doesn't make sense.

i agree with eric on the dns part, but if you can't handle a 4.95/month host for a blog, no way are you gonna run your own dns server.

as for mirroring the blog, it would depend on what saoftware was running on both ends, your ability to run a shell and cron jobs on at least one side, and how often you needed it updated (every minute? every day? instantly?)

seriously, there are free web hosts (000freewebhost.com comes to mind) that can handle your blogging needs just fine....
