Build it just like a hog trap, only smaller

make it like a rabbit gum but bigger for a coon. build a rectangular box and drill a hole in the back for a stick with a notch to sit in it. put a forked stick in the middle on top of the box and cut a slot for the trap door in the front. run a string from the notched stick in the back over the forked stick on top of the box and too the trap door. when the coon goes in after the bait placed in the back of the box he will hit the notched stick knocking it loose and allowing the trap door to fall shut. also put a small piece of wood in front of the door on the bottom so it won't be able to push it opean. also if you can shoot one rub its hide all over the inside of the box and squeeze the urine out of its badder into the trap. the scent will help the animal feel comfterable that another has been in the trap and make it eaiser to catch. good luck
