I don't want to use snow guns because the temperature doesn't even get below zero. I want to know how and what you would need to make instant artificial snow

I want to make it not buy packets of it

  1. This is assuming you mean real snow made of frozen water and subject to melting, to be made on a landscaping scale as opposed to indoor artificial snow for holiday decorations or miniature dioramas.

Snow is a mixture of air and ice crystals, and a "snow gun" of some kind is the only way known to produce it.  The snow gun uses concentric nozzles, one fed by an air compressor and the other by a water hose, to create an air-filled stream of super-cooled water droplets that will freeze into artificial snow particles.

There are snow guns that can operate when the ambient air temperature is above freezing, but this requires a large refrigeration plant to cool the air to about 50 degrees below freezing, or, preferably, colder.

It is an expensive process.  A very clever machinist with the right tools could build the equipment from scratch, but it would be very costly.

Sorry.  There is no other known method.

  2. Artificial Snow

    Supplies

    # 1/2 cup sugar

    # 1/2 cup talcum powder

    # Glue of your choice

    Instructions

    # Mix together sugar and talcum powder throughly.

    # Spread glue over the surface that you would like to coat with snow.

    # Sprinkle the snow mixture over the glue and allow to dry.

    # If you prefer more sparkle in your snow add a little extra sugar to the mixture.

Create the Illusion of Frosty Snow on Christmas Trees

    Supplies

    # 2 cups soap flakes

    # 2/3 cups liquid starch

    # Blue food coloring

    # Glitter (if desired)

    # 3 tablespoons water

    Instructions

    # Combine the soap flakes and liquid starch in a mixing bowl.

    # Slowly add the water to the mixture and beat with an egg beater. The mixture will get thicker as you blend.

    # Add a few drops of food coloring as you beat the mixture until you get a nice icy snow color.

    # At this time you can also mix in some glitter if you'd like a sparkling snow look.

    # Finally, use the mixture to paint the christmas tree branches of your real or artificial tree. You'll get a nice snow dusted look.
