Food is really getting expensive these days; I can barely feed myself. How do I make dog food last longer and be more filling. Also, is ramen good for dogs? Not the spicy stuff, just the cheapey Manuchan or watev it is. Thanks!

  1. god chillax block em then ill bet they'll be happy jeez

  2. WOW

I'm tired of you....YES YOU! Not only do you ask horrendous questions but you answer question horribly and sometimes give dangerous advice. First you say you are  a "proud owner of two dogs" then you go on and ask a question about how to get rid of them...just like that!!

CONSIDER YOURSELF BLOCKED. People I hope your smart enough  to do the same

  3. You could try applying for food stamps at the county Jobs and Family Services office for yourself and your child, also maybe medicaid for the child (depending on your income).

Also you can try calling 211 for First Link and the food bank and help with rent and utility bill payments sometimes. The food bank is different from the food stamps and you can do both if you qualify. Food banks beside food items sometimes have baby formula, diapers, health and beauty items and pet food ...stuff that food stamps don't allow you to buy.

Also for free or low cost doctor or dental visits without insurance, try calling the county health department for free or low cost clinics.

For free or low cost meds, try

    http://www.pparx.org or

    http://www.copays.org

Thrift stores have low cost gently used clothing, housewares and other items. At the end of the month, they usually have a set day for a half price sale on everything...ask them about it.

Also try http://www.craigslist.org for cheap or free stuff. They have a section "free" under the For Sale category. Also a "wanted" section and a "barter" section under the For Sale category.

This is not information for the dog, but can help stretch your income farther. Also try buying the dog food in dry form in big bags at say Meijers or Walmart when it goes on sale and maybe use coupons if you find them.

Dog vaccinations can be cheaper at clinics at places like Petsmart or Tractor Supply stores ...or at cheap spay and neuter clinics (look in the yellow pages).

I don't think occasional Ramen noodles will hurt a dog, as long as it is given sufficient dog food and is not underweight or overweight.

  4. theres no other way but to buy your food cheaper or from a pet store or try mixing some dog food with some leftovers.its tasty and cheap

  5. Most pet owners seriously overfeed their pets.  I don't know what kind or size dog you have, but an average feeding for a Lab, for instance, should only consist of one cup of dry food in the AM and one in the PM.  Table scraps should be kept to a bare minimum because of the fat content.  To much fat in your dogs diet could eventually case serious fat deposits on the internal organs causing costly health problems or worst case scenerio, death.  If you can't afford to feed him now then I would guess you can't afford costly vet bills.  Rice can be an inexpensive food suppliment for your dog too, if needed, along with leftover vegtables.  My dogs love raw carrots and cauliflower. This does not replace the nutrional value of a good dog food though.  If you have a Costco in your area their Kirkland dog food is very inexpensive and is a fairly nutritional food, as far a cheaper dog foods go.

  6. Ramen is very high in fat so I doubt that would be good for him. But rice is excellent for dogs and you can get it cheap! Try mixing that in with his food to help stretch it out, but not too much, it won't replace all his nutritional needs.  You can also mix in any other vegetable left overs you might have and see what he likes. My dog loves lettuce cores, broccoli stalks, carrot tops, all kinds of things we don't eat. Never onions, though. Onions are bad for dogs.

  7. No, I wouldn't reccomend giving ramen. Put your dog on a high quality food like canidae, innova,or california natural and you can feed less due to the nutrient value of those foods.

  8. I'd say the ramen might be upsetting with the excess sodium in it..

You could feed plain white rice as filler I suppose, or ask around for people's leftover freezerburned meat..

I know you probably don't want a dozen people just telling you to adopt out your dogs if you can't afford to feed them, but it might be something to consider since they don't deserve starvation to save a few bucks.. You might want to check around at petstores.. I know my local pet store sells off bulk dog food for like $0.25 per pound..

Good luck with whatever you ultimately decide to do.. and I don't have picky eater kids because I don't have children.. but I have had dogs for many years..
