How do you make eyes glossy?

how do you make eyes look glossy in pictures?

just putting little dots of white by the pupil to look like reflecting light

Well... The normal way to do it is using lighting (flash or otherwise). You can also Photoshop it in with white shapes put in the eyes, mess with the opacity, and probably do a diffuse glow to give it a glare. I suggest flash though.

This whole picture has been sharpened to within an inch of its life using unsharp mask.  That helps the eyes look like that.
