How do you make fireflies spark??

I have caught about 8 fire flies and put them in a jar, problem is they dont want 2 spark any more, any help?

They only spark to signal to a mate that they are ready to mate. This is usually when they have found a place they can lay eggs(girls) or to anounce that they are here(males).

The males usually will signal only if they see a female sparking, so if there are no gals you are out of luck.
