You can use a liquor that has a lower proof (percentage of alcohol by volume) or stick with one that you already have and dilute it with water or perhaps a juice such as cranberry, pineapple, or orange to add a more exotic flavor to the jello. :)

you follow the recipe but substitute the cold water part for vodka or half vodka have water depending on the proof.

Or stop buying that cheap stuff that comes in plastic bottles

Stoli would be a good choice.  Don't know about you, but it tastes like water to me when I swig it.
