How do you make keetle popcorn from scratch?

or you could buy regluar popcorn and spray it with cooking spray then add salt and sugar and shake it up, buy then you could just buy kettle corn. of course home-made goods does have that sort of special goodness that you can't buy in stores. the choice is up to you

Daddy's Kettle Corn



15 min | 5 min prep

SERVES 4

2/3 cup popcorn

1/4 cup cooking oil

1/4 cup sugar

salt

Heat Oil over medium heat in a large skillet with a tight fitting lid.

Add Popcorn and continue to heat until first kernel pops.

quickly stir in sugar until it is dissolved.

Cover and continue to shake skillet, popcorn may burn, be careful.

After the popcorn is popped, pour in a bowl and lightly salt.

find a4-6 quart kettle with a tight fitting lid.  Put about 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the pan and heat.  Add 2-3 kernels of corn.  When these pop, add enough corn to cover the bottom of the kettle in a single layer.  Cover and gently slide back and forth over heat till you hear popping.  When the popping becomes brisk, shake faster.  This movement keeps the unpopped kernels close to the bottom and the popped ones above.  When popping slows way down and is no more that 1 or 2 pops in a 15 second interval, remove from heat.  pour into large bowl, douse with butter and eat.
