  1. You use the broiler. Cooking time depends on how thick the steak is. If it's about 1 " thick you want to broil it about four minutes per side for medium rare. If you want it well done, pull it out of the broiler at that point and put it on a plate and toss it in the microwave for about 90 seconds and then back under the broiler for about two more minutes. Seriously, if you are going to eat a steak well done, it does not matter how you get it there once you have a little color on it.

  2. it will be nasty if you did that better off doing it on  the grill

  3. You should do this under the broiler.  For medium rare, broil the steaks about 3-4 minutes per side.  It will depend on how thick they are.  For well done, try about 5-6 minutes per side.

  4. cook it for about 20 min, then cut one of them and see if it is done enough.  If not, bake for an additional 5 minutes, turn the oven off and leave it sit till ready to serve.  DO NOT OPEN OVEN after turning off.  you want the heat to remain in the oven.

I do mine on the George Foreman for about 15 minutes if they are thick.  If they are thin about 7 minutes.

  5. I use a cast iron fry pan, you use any fry pan you can put into the oven.  I sear both sides of the steak on the stove top (preheat your oven to 350), then I place the pan inside of the oven for about 20 to 25 mins (I like it well done, but I guess medium would be about 14 to 16 mins) good luck.

It would be best to marinate the steak in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper for at least 2 hours in the fridge and let stand at room temp for about 1/2 hour to take the chill off to ensure even cooking.

  6. It depends on the thickness of the steak.  I cook a 1 inch steak for about 3 mins under the broiler.  I always use a meat thermometer as we like more rare than done.
