How do you make more power for your punches?

i saw this guy the other day at the gym and i saw hit useing wights just swinging his arms like a punch i was woundering if that would help with power

  2. no it has no use for power at all and it not used by real boxers. Anyone here who suggests it does has never boxed.

    Holding weights is only useful for possible arm and shoulder endurance conditioning, to make your arms fitter and able to hold them up longer.

    the best and only way to increase power is to get punching lessons, which with a coach will double your power in short time.

    Then you can increase that another 10-20% through power workouts, and bagwork.

Yes, that is a good technique.  If he was doing it right, he was using rather light dumbells.  You don't want to stretch the muscles too far, just tone them.  Bodybuilders are terrible as boxers.  You can also wear wrist weights during the activities of daily living, and pushups and pull-ups (chinning bar) help as well.
