How do you make natural hand gestures and motion when your acting?

I am gong to be acting in Hollywood movies not theatre, so I am a little nervous about my hand gestures

  1. As one other person said, talk to your acting teacher.

    But to help you heres what I think.

    Keep them smaller than on stage, more natural and less pronounced, otherwise they may take the focus away from the scene and the actions of the characters.

    Another thing you may want to do is really read over your script once you get it and study the characte; look for hints about their manorisms in what they say and really gat in their head so that you can become your character not just an actor.

    The hand motions really depend on who your acting as,

    personally I dont think they should be baised on YOU,

    but on your Character.

  2. Your acting coach or teachers can tell you, but really, the images are so large in movies that your hand motions should be subtle and natural.

    On the stage, they have to be a little more pronounced.

  3. When you carry on a normal conersation with someone, note the gestures that you make. Gestures in movies aren't big at all compared to theatre, so it should be pretty easy, you just have to practice.
