Wash them in HOT water (but cooler water if you are afraid the colour might run!) and do not use a dryer sheet when you dry them.

you just have two use them a couple of times then they will be absorbent

Launder them before using them. Put a cup of white vinegar in the rinse water. Do not use fabric softener in the wash or in the dryer. Fabric softener diminishes the absorbency of towels.
