If you are using photoshop you can do it easily without cropping anything.

- Use typing tool to type what you want.

- Then get your photo.

- Keep the text below the photo layer.

- Then put your mouse over between the photo and text layer at the layers tab and press alt button you will see your mouse pointer will change into two circles crossing, click your left mouse button while you pressing alt button and your mouse pointer is between two layers.

You will be created a clipping mask and you can arrange your photo's position according to text as you wish because you won't lose any part from the photo.

You need two different pictures for this. One would be the person's picture and another would be a picture with letters.

1.Open the person's picture on photoshop.

2.Double click on the background layer. This way you can work on background. You will have two layers now. "Layer 0" and "Layer 1"

3.Erase the background on the picture by using "Eraser tool". Press E for Eraser tool.

4. Select the erased background by using "Magic Tool"

5.Right click, and click on "Layer via cut".

6.Delete "Layer 1".

In this way you are going to have only the person.

7.And open another picture with letters.

7.Drag the earlier layer of the person in the new picture,

8.Click on "Move tool" and place it wherever you want to.

If you dont have it it is expensive and hard to get the hang of, I have it. If you dont, I would probably get someone else to do it for you.

Just use Photoshop.

Put the picture of the person on a 1st layer, then put the picture of the words on a second layer and cut out the inside of the letters.

That's pretty much the simplest way.
