How do you make pink hair dye stand out when you have dark brown hair?

Question

i bought some temporary bright pink hair dye.when i apply it to my dark brown hair it comes out dark red and is barely noticeable.i would like bright pink strands (instead of dark red strands) of hair that stands out.

and my mom wont let me bleach so that's out of the question.

please help me.

Make very certain you know what you are getting before purchasing the dye. Try to find images of the hair dyed on a regular person. I often use google.com to make sure someone else has used the product before I try it on my own hair, just to make sure I’m not getting ripped off. I personally recommend getting Paul Mitchell’s Ink Works. Since you will be dying it pink, I recommend getting their Red hair dye. For some reason, this dye turns pink instead of red.

Well there's a kind you can buy at walmart that's ten dollars and it works really good my sister has dark brown hair and i dyed her hair for her with it and it did an awesome job it shows up really pink.

you'll have to bleach your hair (the strands u want pink) first so that its blonde or lighter brown, if its your first time doing that then you're better getting it done at the hairdressers :)

oooo, sorry i just read the bit about bleach. sorry you're hair cannot be pink then.

tell your mum to lighten up god's sake, its hair. it'll grow back in if it goes wrong (which makes ur hair dry and at the very very worse it could break or fall out.)!

go to a salon and get it done they know how to put it in properly for your hair color , pink highlights look great in darker brown black hair

If your hair is very dark dyes won't show up unless you remove your own hair colour first. Could you get streaks put in professionally?

You will have to bleach the hair to make the pink stand out. You can't use temporary pink dye over dark hair because like you said, it won't show up.

There is a product for dark hair that doesn't bleach the hair by Loreal called "Color Rays"

I have actually used these and they do turn pink, but it's not SUPER bright.

You could always look into getting Clip In Hair Extensions. They don't damage the hair and you can clip them in wherever or whenever you feel like it.

I have always put pink in my hair and have had to bleach it. It should even say on the instructions to bleach it first.

you can't do it without bleaching it.... just won't show through....maybe you could get a few fake hair clips on in the color you want sorry
