  1. You can get a tea ball. This is a metal ball that is sort of like a strainer and it will contain your tea just like a tea bag. It's great if you're just making one cup at a time. Often with something like chamomile you won't want a whole pot. You won't be awake to drink it. It's very calming and can help some people sleep.

The infuser pots are nice too. I've also made loose tea in a pot and then poured through a special little strainer that sits on my cup.

This is what the device looks like. I think they are one of the neatest little things you can have in your kitchen.

  2. Loose tea refers to any kind of tea (herbal like Chamomile or not) that isn't in a teabag.

There's this special teapot which has a strainer in the middle which is where you put in the loose tea leaves. Moreover, in Japan, they have this small teapot where you put in the loose green tea leaves, pour in the hot water, shake the teapot, and pour the tea into the cup. The small teapot has a strainer inside the spout which separates the tea leaves from the liquid. If you don't have any of these, just use a small, fine strainer (one that fits inside your cup).

  3. to make anything loose,  you gotta plow it

  4. The website will be showing you just a picture of Chamomile flowers because it looks pretty on the packet, but inside will be dried tea leaves.  You would normaly put 1 teaspoonful of leaves per person plus an extra spoonful into a tea pot, pour on boiling water and leave to 'brew' for 5 - 10 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea.You then pour the tea through a tea strainer into your cup.  You would use this method to make any 'loose tea'.  However, these days teabags are much more commonly used, in all flavours, including Chamomile, and you can then make the tea straight in your cup or mug. I personally don't like the taste of Chamomile on its own so I use Chamomile with Lemon or some other flavour which makes it drinkable for me.  Oh and my local independent health shop sells individual teabags so that you can try them before you buy a whole packet so you might see if you could do that too.  Sweet dreams!

  5. I suggest just going to any grocerie store and buying a box of chamomile tea...  I think it would work just as good as loose tea, and it'd be much simpler to make!

  6. Hello

First let me explain that Chamomile tea is not a true tea. It is a tisane meaning the leaves are not from the Camellia Sinensis plant. True tea leaves contain caffeine, tisanes do not. In this case Chamomile is a flower that is dried. It can be brewed as a tisane alone or combined with other things such as lemon grass.

True teas or tisanes in the loose leaf form can be brewed several ways. Place the leaves in a container and brew for the correct timing at the correct water temperature. When brewing is complete pour through a strainer into your cup. Another way is to purchas a tea pot that includes an infuser basket that you will remove when timing is complete. One of my favorites is a small pot that brews the beverage then releases the beverage into your cup by just sitting the tea pot on top of a cup.

You will find other information about tisanes and herbals here

I should also note that while chamomile is a tisane itself it is often blended with true tea which would contain caffeine to produce a different taste profile.
