How do you make satellite broadband go wireless?

I have a friend who lives out in the sticks and her only option for internet was to get bt satellite broadband. Getting it working in the first place was a nightmare but eventually overcome. Now all she wants is a wireless signal (HOW DARE SHE LOL)

please help

I have rj45 cables, 2 straight one twisted, a speedtouch wireless modem/router, a net lynx wireless router and the satellite modem a wireless usb pen and a wireless enabled laptop so i thought it should have been strightforward (YEAH RIGHT)

  1. No easy answer to this without knowing your exact set up - my recommendation is to take it in stages.

    Get the laptop working plugged in the the router for the satellite (sounds like you have this already)

    Next get things working with the wireless router - configure that with the laptop so that it is on the same subnet as the satellite one. Then plug that in to satellite modem and plug the laptop in to the wireless modem and then check that things work in this wired set up. To avoid confusion, disable DHCP on the wireless router.

    Finally, set up the wireless configuration on the router and laptop - note that it is possible for the laptop to have both a physical and wireless connection at the same time while you customise it - obviously unplugging the rj45 cable will tell you if wireless is working or not.

    Given all the possible security settings with wireless, I recommend initial set up with out any security enabled, get it working, then add the security layers.
