Solar panels on house's are made of silacon coz its a semi-conductor. The electrons are absorbed and broken up to move around freely.

u can make solar panels out of blueberries, ethanol and PVA glue though..:P

Take individual solar cells and solder them together in series and and parallel to form rows and columns of cells that will become a "panel". Then place the entire construct in a weather proof enclosure. Multiple panels are then wired and fed into an inverter to convert the DC into AC.
