I know "english" is what makes it spin and whatnot but I can't figure out how to put the proper "english" on the ball to act like a boomerange.

  1. I'm glad someone said something about possibly damaging your cloth and tip.  Make sure where ever you are attempting masse shots its prohibited.  If you do happen to damage the cloth, it can be costly to replace.  Good luck and keep rackn em up!

  2. to do that you have to come in at a high angle of attack, keep the cue above a 45 degree angle, hit the back of the cue ball, like you were playing heavy bottom english, this will throw the cue ball out forwards a little then the back spin will take over and bring the ball back.  Make sure your cue is well chalked but not over chalked.  As a habit, I tap off extra chalk on my stick before I shoot, usually on my shoe, or one of the pockets if they're leather, I won't go whacking my stick on the edge of the table, it would risk marking the stick and getting the chalk on the table.

  3. I assume you're asking about a masse or pique shot.  You have to pretty much hit straight down into the table, through the edge of the cue ball.  Imagine just doing a draw or "english" shot vertically.  You can do it with a short, quick jab and you'll get the cue ball to go up about 6-12 inches and come back.  If you put more force into it, you can go up a lot further.  You will hit end up hitting the cloth with your cue tip though and risk damaging it (both the cloth and the tip, actually).  You have to have good control of your stroke since you're holding it at an awkward angle.  A lot of bars and pool halls won't even let you practice this, so be careful.

  4. with a little angle you hit the cue ball at the bottom of the ball and it will draw straight back to you.

  5. It helps alot to have a lot of chalk on the tip.  Then just hit the cue hard at about 1-2 cue tips below the middle of the ball.

  6. Hit the ball at an angle on the bottom where it gets lots of spin and some forward force. It needs spin combined with force.

  7. If your asking how to do a draw shot maybe i can help. First of all you want to keep your cue as level as possible and strike the cue ball below center. No left or right english is necessary, just middle ball, below center. The most important part is a good follow through. Stroke all the way through the cue ball. A lot of players jerk their sticks back when they try a draw shot but that severely lessens the amount of backspin and doesn't make for a nice draw. In summary , a level stick, hitting below center, and a nice smooth follow through. How low you strike the cue ball and the amount of force you use will make big differences in the amount of draw you achieve. So just practice a lot and see what works best for you. Good luck and happy shooting!
