Okay, so I visited my great grandmother years ago and she taught me how to crochet somewhat. I can do a straight line, but I don't know how to get like, a second line, to make a scarf or something? I had to leave before she could teach me and I really want to start back up again.

  1. You chain 1, turn your work so now you are on the opposite side.  Your first stitch goes right below the chain 1 stitch, and away you go.

  3. When you come to the end of your row, single crochet 1, then, turn your work around and continue across the next row.  Repeat this at the end of the next row, each time.  It helps to make a smoother edge.

  4. You just turn the first row around and crochet another row right into it. Then you turn it again, and so on. Here's a video

  5. It depends on what stich you are using. I am sure she taught you the chain stitch, which is how you start every progect. To make a scarf, you would chain about 21. Then you would take the hook and stick it in the 20th chain and pull yarn through. do that all the way to the end. Then turn it and stick the hook through the second chain and pull the yarn through. Do this until it is as long as you want it. Then tie it off and work the ends into the scarf and you are done. You will have single crocheted a nice warm scarf. There are lots of stiches you can learn that make neat things. There are lots of books you can look at and check things out.
