How do you make the perfect icing or frosting?

Every wonder how a baker gets that perfect frosting for their cakes? Here is a tried and true recipe that my sister even used on my wedding cake when she made it. It is a family hit and it works well for cakes or cookies.

Things You’ll Need:

    * 1/2 cup (one stick) butter

    * 1 tsp vanilla

    * 4 cups confectionary sugar

    * 3-4 Tbs milk

Step1

Beat butter and vanilla until smooth

Step2

Add in confectionary sugar and beat till mixed

Step3

Add milk and beat until smooth

There is no one size fits all perfect icing. There are scads of recipes  for many tastes and purposes There is butter cream,cream cheese, boiled, royal and on and on. The choice depends a good deal on what you are putting it on. Get hold of a good cook book and look up icing recipes.

Using an electric mixer, blend together a bit of crisco, some powdered sugar, a tiny bit of milk (to get the consistency right), and some vanilla for flavoring.

for frosting there is a whole lot of diff ways to do it but for icing a simple way is 1/2 powdered sugar and half liq, for instance if u use water it will be like glazed doughnut icing or try some chambord for a nice blackberry icing

Whipped Cream Frosting

COOK UNTIL THICK:

1 cup milk

4 TBLS. Flour

set aside to cool

BEAT:

Together….3 minutes

½ cup margarine

½ cup shortening (Crisco…NOT cooking oil)

ADD:

1 cup sugar

(1/4 cup at a time, beat thorouhly)

1 tsp. Vanilla

ADD :

Gradually add flour & milk mixture

Using an electric mixer, mix in egg whites and a teaspoon of baking powder. to add flavors you have to add powdered flavors on the mixture. Thats a a very thing to do. i did that when I was just 8 yrs old.
