How do you make those little braided square things with four strings?

My daughter has seen everyone at school with them little keychains on their Backpacks and stuff and she really wants to know how to mkae them. Please help!

Lanyards?

There's the plastic ones which are usually a box stitch or a chinese twisty ladder thing stitch. Your craft store will have TONS of colors and supplies and maybe books.

-Kind of hard to start, easy to make when you get the hang of it, hard to tie without alot of extra at the end.

Then there's the thread/floss ones. Usually made into friendship bracelets, the most popular stitch is a kind of over-over knot thing. They sell the supplies in craft stores and do make easy-to-follow books.
