How do you make your own fabric patterns?

I was wondering how do you make your own fabric patterns, or is there a website where you can make your own customs patterns?

Do you mean putting patterns onto fabric, or making paper patterns ro make clothing out of fabric?

I take things apart and use them as patterns (school bags to make a new one from denim, or grocery bags to make a reusable one).

For curtains, seat covers etc, I just look at it and start cutting and sewing.

For Halloween costumes for my kids I draw out the shape I need it on Newspaper, and pin the newspaper to the fabric.  Voila, my own pattern.

If you mean patterns ON fabric, as in stripes, or designs, etc...I've never done that.  I've always found what I needed in local fabric stores.

I use basic pieces out of other purchased patterns and redraw them according to my thoughts of the day.

I have a basic bodice pattern, front and back, a basic princess bodice pattern, front, back and 2 side pieces  the various sleeve treatments, and a pants pattern. I don't need patterns for skirts or dresses. Just extend the bodice patterns to the length you want them.

I have taken other clothing apart to be used as patterns also. Just add seam allowances to the seam lines and you have patterns.

I learned these skills from my mother, aunts, great aunts, grandmothers, and great grandmothers. They were all great seamstresses.
