  1. call a farrier in and get the done.

  2. umm.. call the ferrier. it might be more expensive but, u will know it's done right!!!

  3. I can't begin to tell you how many horses', ponies' and donkeys' hooves and joints have been totally screwed up by their owners being cheap and doing their own shoeing!

Shoeing isn't all that expensive and your donkey might not even need to be shod.

So get a professional to do it or you'll be stuck with a lame donkey and huge vet bills.

  4. You can by slip on boots for light riding.

Or call your farrier and have them work on the hooves but with a barefoot trim. Its better than shoes.

  5. that would probably cost more than calling the farrier, do you really need shoes. if it's just light riding i never put shoes my horses.

  6. If all your doing is light riding then it may be cheaper, (heaven forbid someone wants to save a bit of money... come on ppl) to buy a pair of easy boots. Mine have lasted me probably 500 miles and still are in decent shape. they easy to use and will save you money compared to shoes. Easycareinc.com will give you more info. Hope that helps

  7. Light riding should'nt require shoes but if you do want them how about just doing the front feet? Thats cheaper but I would have a farrier do it - best not to take the risk.

  8. You need to call the ferrier because if you do it wrong you'll end up with more damamge that you'll have to pay for rather than calling a ferrier to do so plz for your horses sake call the ferrier! you shouldnt say JUST A DONKEY because donkey's are still animals that need some TLC and you don't wanna wreck them. if you care for their hooves wrong you'll end up have foot problems on him which could end in lameness or worse so plz just spend the money or sell the donkey ik its sad and you dont want to but this is what i suggest and believe me i understand how you feel its not im portnat but it is PLZ just spend the money =[ BEST WISHES and veeeery sry if i sound  rude but i just want you to know some facts good luck =]

ps. The reason why you can cause lameness by doing it yourself is that a lot of skill goes into the placement of nails and angle of the shoe b/c the hoof is full of nerves and tendons hitting one could result in lameness

  9. You don't.

Stop being cheap and call the farrier.

  10. Why would he need shoes for light riding?  Does he have really bad feet:  If not, ride him barefoot.  It will be better for him.  If the terrain is questionnable, get some Epic Easy Boots with a gator, have them fitted, roll the toe and ride on.

  11. It is not worth the trouble you will run into.

If you are just doing light riding- your donkey (or any horses) don't need shoes. I am not quite sure about the fascination with shoeing horses, but in my area, the only ones with shoes have hoof/leg problems, or ride regularly on gravel which  wears down their hoof fast.

  12. Hello , ok right you need to call a farrier as it will be much cheaper in the long run as when you break the donkeys hooves and chip his hoofs etc then the vet and farrier bill with be 50 times more then it cost to get the job done properly . and it is not fair on the poor donkey to have to have there feet all chip and slip because if you can not affored a farrier bill then I guess as hard as it is you should not own a equine as they all cost money Thanks and call the farrier

  13. call a farrier... they will do it properly!  your donkey anyway needs trimming for his feet unless if he runs a lot and naturally wears them down.

see if you can get a bargin with the farrier, ask around for the best prices... and if you have any friends with horses that need shoeing you might be able to get a discount if all are down at once.

  14. Don't. Call a farrier or blacksmith.

There is a lot of training involved to learn the correct angle of the hooves, nailing and filing. If you make a tiny mistake you could make your donkey lame.

  15. Horseshoeing is a skilled profession and requires training and experience.  No one should try to make or apply horseshoes except a qualified farrier.

  16. If your just light riding i would suggest you get easy boots u just slip them on your horses feet before u ride an take them off when youdone riding.

  17. You should not, not unless your a licensed farrier, why, you could make the shoe wrong, and it can damage the hooves.

call a farrier, in the long run, it will be cheaper..and your little donkey will be safer...
