How do you make your own pool tournament?

I am new here and I need help becuase having your own pool tourtament can be so cool? I hope u peeps can help me out by ansewring my questions k? ty!

Anyone want to bet me on whether he's talking about a real pool tournament or an online thing?  I'm guessing being "new here" means "new to Yahoo" since he just joined a couple of days ago.  But it warms my heart to see everyone's answers.  My apologies if I'm wrong.

Well, you're going to need several things.  First, you'll need a venue.  The number of players will factor into where you hold the tourney.  If you need more than one table, you might need to look into a public venue.  You'll have to decide which game you'll be playing (8-ball, 9-ball, 14.1, etc.).  You'll have to decide if this is just for fun or are there entry fees and prize money involved.  You'll need a rule set to go by.  In my personal opinion, you should play by BCA world-standardized rules.  These are the main things you need to determine before you can go any further.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

In addition to what others have posted the next time you go to a tournament hang around the tournament board and pick up tips from that person running it. He/she would be very helpful and answer any questions and offer sound advice.

Most tournaments are "double" elimination. And there comes a time on the one-loss side when the upper half of the board goes to the lower half and bottom to top.

Just a couple small tricks to learn. Whichever game you decide on, be sure you're up on the rules because you'll hold a players meeting prior to the draw. And be ready to answer all questions they ask.

And if you aren't sure about something, don't be afraid to ask. There are always tournament experienced players who know the rules and will be willing to assist you.
